Getting serious

St. Mary's Glacier

Not too often do people associate me with being serious. Though times will change, for right now, I am enjoying being serious. Through the past few days I have been quite sobered by the goings on, mainly Mr. Langemann's passing. As the last few days have gone by I have spent much more time praying and reading the Bible than ever in my recollection, and I believe that God is teaching me many important lessons. Lessons for me are often learned by observing. One of the traits that I saw Mr. Langemann exemplify was turning away from sin and turning to Christ; Time after time he would share a testimony of what God had shown him and then how God was working in his life. God has blessed me and my life through the testimony of Mr. Langemann, and I will never forget him singing this song in the first few weeks of first meeting him.

TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!

Refrain

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Refrain

This song meant a lot to me before Mr. Langemann's passing; now it is a wonderful and powerful reminder to me of not only what to do (by turning my eyes to him) but what is to come as well (death into life everlasting).

Praise the Lord for his truth and love!
